Wrapping Up and Looking Ahead

We are in the last few weeks of the Spring 2025 semester! How did that happen? In this newsletter I want to focus on how the Library can support you in the Fall. We know you're prepping your Fall syllabi and schedules so please think about how the CWC Library can support you next semester.

Faculty Focused, Library Support

This summer while you ponder your Fall syllabi and schedules we want to offer a few services to help you and your students.

Please consider having:

Embedded Library Instruction for Fall

Librarian visits to classes or class visits to the Library. This will helps students understand how to use Library resources for class projects... sometimes multiple visits can do wonders.

Collaborative Assignment Design

Faculty are invited to have CWC Library Staff co-create or review research assignments to ensure students have the resources and skills they need.
Use our custom subject guides or tutorials, these can be embedded in Canvas.

Literature Searches & Article Retrieval

Let's have a one-on-one librarian / faculty meeting to update course content with current research, we can collaborate on building reading lists, or integrating scholarly materials into your canvas shells.

Course Reading Updates & Reserve Requests

Submit your updated reading lists or request items for course reserves.
We can also offer help locating free or accessible versions (including OERs). This is great when you want students to read information from a a variety of view points.

We see students every day sometimes they are well prepared for their assignments, but most of the time they don't know where to start. We want to ensure that all of our students feel comfortable in a Library, using research tools, and processing that information into a written paper.

Library + Writing Center = Student Success

This spring was the CWC Writing Center's trial run, and I can say it was a success. The Library and English Faculty teamed up to create the CWC Writing Center to support student success from first draft to final submission. Through personalized writing sessions, research consultations, and many hours of talking with students about their writing needs, we helped students build confidence and strengthen their academic skills.

We had over 80 interactions with students, faculty, and community members focusing on assignments from English, Communications, Business, and many other disciplines.

Whether tackling research papers, short stories, or citation challenges, our collaborative approach made a real impact—and we’re ready to support even more in the fall!

While we did amazing things this semester, we want to do more for more students. We currently only have 4 Faculty and Staff members assisting with our Writing Center's hours.

We are looking for volunteers to expand our hours. You do not need to be an English Faculty member to help with the center. You can also be a Staff members with great writing skills.

If you have 30 minutes or 1 hour a few times a week we would love to talk to you.

Library End of Semester Spending

Thank you to everyone that responded to my emails regarding library allocations for your specific disciplines. I have 2 weeks to finalize all purchases. If I have not received a response by May 13th the money allotted to your areas will be redistributed to other needs.
