Week Two: Saddling Up for Success!

We are in Week 2 and the Library has been busy! Last week we visited different locations around campus each day to introduce students to library resources and their Librarians.

In this issue:

Class Visits and Orientations: Thus far we have 25 class visits or orientations scheduled. Thank you, we still have room for more, so if you have a writing assignment planned - please sign up. Below learn why class visits are important.

Writing Center Hours are OPEN: We are happy to say that last semester we held over 90 sessions in our Writing Center. This semester we hope to help even more students.

Event Programming - We are bringing back some of our academic and writing centered workshops and calling them Deep Dives. These are viewable on our Events calendar

Database Highlight - Infobase Science. We have a 3 month Trial with this product and we would love to hear what you think about it.

Help Your Students Succeed

Library anxiety is real and telling your students to go to the Library is not enough! Students will not come to a library unless they are brought or have already met the Librarians. Let us break the ice and let students know we are here to help.

A single session with a librarian can make a big difference in how students approach assignments, research, and academic writing. But we all know that one session is not enough, it is just the start.

Library instruction can support your students with:

Research and writing skill development
Accessing and evaluating quality resources
Reducing assignment anxiety through guided support

Sessions can be customized to match your class goals, assignments, and skill level, whether you’re teaching Gen Ed, upper-division, or something in between.

CWC Writing Center

Support for Every Writer

We’ve all seen it, students staring at a blank page, unsure how to start an assignment, struggling to cite sources, or turning in papers that could have used one more round of revision. That’s where the CWC Writing Center comes in.

Our team supports students at any stage of the writing process, offering help with:

Generating ideas and understanding assignments
Research strategies and integrating sources
Organizing papers and using proper formatting (APA, MLA, etc.)
Revising effectively and developing long-term editing skills

While we’re not a proofreading service but we do guide students toward becoming confident, independent writers through collaboration and skill-building.

The Writing Center is/has:

Free and open to all students, in any course or program
Appointments available in Riverton and now in Lander!

Online writing resources and tutorials are also available [here].

Encourage your students to visit early and often — or better yet, mention the Writing Center in your syllabus. Together, we’ll help them succeed, one paragraph at a time.

Science Online offers a comprehensive overview of a broad range of scientific disciplines. Topic Centers feature specially selected content on core science disciplines to help students find a starting point for their research.

A reminder: It is important for our calculations and ROI reports that our usage is calculated correctly. We need your help to provide the correct information. To do this please provide the database link, or permalink, to your students and not a PDF of the item you want them to read. By doing this all usage will be calculated so that we have the essential data needed to keep all of our databases that you love.
